Meta AI for Facebook Instagram and WhatsApp: The popular apps WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram are owned by Zuckerberg’s company Meta, which announced on Monday that artificial intelligence tools would be available on its platform in India.
The country’s most popular mobile apps are offering a free generative AI tool that has the ability to completely change how convenient and enjoyable using mobile apps is for users. According to a news release from Meta India, “Use Meta AI on WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram to get things done, learn, create, and connect with the things that matter to you.”
Meta AI for Facebook Instagram and WhatsApp
Unlike other leading AI tools like Chat GPT, Meta AI doesn’t need any additional downloads and work within the existing (and commonly used) apps like WhatsApp. However, it remains to be seen how it will fare against Google’s Gemini AI, which is already available in India for some time, and which can answer questions in leading Indian languages as well (Meta AI, for now, can respond only to English).
The facility is being progressively rolled out, and once done, will be available alongside in your chats on WhatsApp or FB Messenger, as well as social feeds on Instagram and Facebook. “Get things done, create content, and deep dive on topics, without having to leave the app you’re using,” according to an official statement by the company.
Features and Capabilities of Meta AI
In addition to helping students with their projects, meta AI could assist users in making restaurant recommendations and providing general knowledge advice and information. One notable element is the ‘Imagine’ specification, which allows users to generate images and dynamic graphics using only text prompts.
Laptop users can access the tool through their web browser at meta.ai, in addition to the smartphone apps.
Global Rollout and Expansion Plans
The company’s AI initiatives date back more than ten years, when it was established as Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR). Its Silicon Valley headquarters are home to labs in Seattle, New York, Tel Aviv, and London, in addition to other locations. About three months after OpenAI’s Chat-GPT 3 revolutionized the field of generative AI, it debuted its Large Language Model Meta AI, or LLaMA, after Facebook Inc. rebranded as Meta Platforms and renamed itself as Meta AI. According to reports, LLaMA’s parameter range extends up to 6,500 crore.
Meta Llama 3, which was first presented at Meta’s Connect event, was released in the US two months ago in addition to twelve other nations. Remarkably, a Meta press note states that Pakistan was chosen for the launch rollout before India.
