New Superhero Series on Netflix: Only a few days after its premiere, Netflix’s brand-new superhero drama Supacell topped the charts, capturing the attention of viewers worldwide. The series is presently ranked second in the US and the UK and has taken the top spot on several lists of the most-watched TV shows in the world.
Supacell, a film by Blue Story creator Rapman, chronicles the lives of five regular South Londoners who come to terms with their supernatural gifts. Rotten Tomatoes gives the series a 100% rating due to its stellar reviews. Supacell debuted on June 27 and has since risen to the second spot on Netflix’s global Top 10 list of English-language television series. Between June 24 and June 30, the show received 33.5 million views and 6.4 million hours of viewing.
The British series has done better than well-known films including Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Sweet Tooth, and Bridgerton, with the most recent season of Bridgerton ranking highest, according to ScreenRant. Notable actors including Tosin Cole as Michael Lasaki, Nadine Mills as Sabrina Clarke, Calvin Demba as Rodney, Josh Tedeku as Tayo “Tazer” Amusan, and Adelayo Adedayo as Dionne Ofori are among the cast members of Supacell.
Giacomo Mancini, Sharleen, Rayxia Ojo, and British rapper Digga D are among the other cast members. Digga D plays Chucky. Eddie Marsan portrays the head of the covert group tasked with finding the superpowered individuals. The show has garnered critical acclaim for its innovative approach to a well-known superhero subject, with praises for its compelling storytelling and strong feeling of urgency.
Will Supacell Get A Season 2 Renewal?
The first season of Supacell, which is directed and written by Rapman (who also serves as the showrunner), wraps up by addressing major narrative issues across its six episodes. Owing to its early popularity, there are rumors that the show might get a second season. Regarding a possible second season for Supacell, Netflix—which is renowned for its circumspect renewal policy—has not yet provided a statement. Rapman, the show’s creator, has disclosed that he has spoken with Netflix about his ambitions for a three-season storyline.
Given Netflix’s prior setbacks in the superhero genre and the show’s encouraging performance and positive reviews, the streaming service may take advantage of Supacell’s growth potential. In the next weeks, a decision on the show’s renewal will probably be made in light of the audience’s response and the show’s ongoing performance.
